Dispensor

Back to Kitbashes and Customs

Behold Dispensor, also known as the Mountain Dewbot, from the Transformers 2007 movie. I saw a similar kitbash up for sale on eBay and couldn’t resist trying to make one myself, since Hasbro didn’t make a toy of this character. This Dispensor is made from two figures: movie Payload (the armored truck) and a Megatron Robot Replica (hey, it is useful for something, after all.). When you stand the truck up on its end it looks sort of like a pop machine.

This soda jerk is clearly an evil Decepticon.

The Transformation Process…

The raw materials:

   A Robot Replica Megatron

   A movie Payload toy

Luckily, Megatron’s arms pull off easily. The head was tricky to cut out because you want a chunk of plastic around the post to anchor it.

Then comes the long, tedious job of disassembling Payload and repainting him in Dispensor’s color scheme. This part takes days. I masked and primered all of the parts, painted them, then finished them with a clear coat to harden the paint. The green is Tamiya metallic green and the silver is an autobody paint color.

The spring-loaded grabber had to go. It’s a weird looking thing and we don’t need it for a Mountain Dewbot. I sawed off the piece attached to his torso and reattached it with glue.

With an Exacto knife and sandpaper, I modified the truck cab feet to look boxy.

The extra arms and some toe attachments made out of styrene and modeling clay. The custom silver claws with ball joints (not shown in this pic) were made from Sculpy.

At last, the pieces are assembled into Dispensor.

I made a custom set of “stickers” that I printed out on photo paper.
