Life has been busy lately. Real life has been eventful in the last two months, but to top it off I recently came back from a trip to Toronto to attend TFCon 2008. It was a lot of fun! I met Gregg Berger, the voice actor who did the voices of G1 Grimlock, Skyfire, Longhaul and Outback, and got his autograph and my picture taken with him. It was awesome.

In the meantime, I noticed that one of my links went offline. So, since Robobase is no longer there, I removed it from the Links page. But I’ve added a new one in its place: Sector 70. There are some really cool kitbashes displayed on this site. If only I had more time in my life to do this stuff...(darned full time job ;P).

Aha! I finished a Fan Art picture in a week. This one depicts Prowl in his office in a moment of rest. I could see Prowl not wanting to stop working on something, despite his systems needing to power down for awhile.

I put a thumbnail for another picture up on the Fan Art page. This one might be quicker to finish than some of the previous pictures I’ve worked on.

There’s another custom figure in the works as well. Two, actually, though one is a continual work-in-progress. The one that will be finished first is a repainted and customized Alternator. It never ceases to amaze me how long it takes to disassemble and apply a really nice paint job to a figure. The figure I’m working on is more than half painted and detailed. I’m adding lights and so on to this figure, too. I’ve got all but one part for that - and that one is in the mail as I type this.

Today’s post is another piece of Fan Art. This one’s called “Soundwave Attacks,” which shows the Decepticon communicator unleashing his minions on the Autobots.

I added a thumbnail for another piece of Fan Art I’m working on. This one’s called “Soundwave Attacks.” It’ll be updated periodically as work on the picture progresses.

At last, I finished a very detailed and extensive kitbash of movie Jazz. Quite honestly, I’m amazed at how well this turned out. I repainted Jazz, added working headlights, fog lights, tail lights, and a glowing blue visor. Click on the icon below to find all of the pictures.*

It has been almost a year since I pre-ordered a World’s Smallest Swoop and Sludge, so I was happy to finally receive them in the mail the other day. When I took them out of the packages I realized I now have a total of five Swoops. The two large ones are original figures, not knock-offs. I would buy a full sized Swoop in the G1 color scheme, if someone came out with it.

I added more links to the Links Page. Now you’ll find additional links to sites for Transformers news, information and North American Transformers conventions. I’m still looking for other G1 websites. There are a few that appear to have been either abandoned or taken down recently. I know there must be other sites out there. If anyone knows of a good one, please contact me so that we can let other G1 fans know about it.

It’s about time for some more Fan Artwork, isn’t it? Here’s a picture of Sideswipe in Lamborghini mode. Although this picture isn’t specifically in the last fan fiction, License To Drive, it might be a scene that happened just before the story started.

It wasn’t easy by a long shot, but I kitbashed my very own Dispensor, aka the Mountain Dewbot from the 2007 Transformers movie. Working with the movie characters is good practice to improve my kitbashing skills because I’m not disappointed if I happen to make a mistake, and they’re a heck of a lot cheaper to practice on than the Alternators.

Today, a new fan fiction, License To Drive, is available for your reading pleasure. Without giving anything away, this story is a comedy centered around Sideswipe. He learns the hard way that flaunting the law comes with consequences.

As of today, the next fan fic, License To Drive is finished - and that’s no April Fool’s joke. Currently, it’s waiting for my editor to go through it. I anticipate that the story will be posted sometime this coming weekend.

I’ve got a few other things in the queue at the moment…

  • The artwork to go with “License To Drive.” I’ve got to color in the picture of the Lamborghini.
  • A Dispensor (a.k.a. the Mountain Dewbot) kitbash. It’s about half done.
  • A custom movie Jazz kitbash. I’m learning how to make prototypes, molds and cast clear plastic for this kitbash. So far, I’ve cast two clear headlights for Jazz and added custom “fog lights.” Next, I want to attempt casting clear red tail lights so that his headlights and tail lights are ready for LEDs to be put in them. This kitbash is going to take awhile, but it’s going to turn out.
  • An “Autobot Spike” kitbash based on the character in the story, “The Spark Cell.” I’ve been talking about doing this for about a year now. Finally, my kitbashing skills have improved to the point that I can do this, though it’s still challenging. To do it, I’m re-shelling Alternator Ricochet with a 1:25 scale ’93 Honda Civic and adding LEDs (including some special ones unique to this character). So far, the finished pieces consist of the windshield and car top with hinge and a door. The front of the car is the next piece to be made.

I just changed the status of the next fan fiction, License To Drive, from “in progress” to “nearing completion.” It took me longer than I expected to get to this point because there were a few times in the last couple of months that life was not condusive to writing a comedy. But that aside now, the story is back on track and I’m busy trying to finish it and get it up as soon as possible.

If you’re interested in knowing what the status of it is, I’ll be keeping the information page on the story updated regularly.

The evolution of this website continues. Inspiration struck for two new banner designs, one for the home page and one which I’ve included now on many of the pages. I’m particularly happy with how the new home page banner turned out considering that I had to paint about half of it to match a cartoon screen shot.

Not long ago, I added working police lights to Barricade. Now, I’ve made even more modifications to the same figure. He has better claw-like hands, a weapon, working headlights and glowing LED optics. You can find all of the modifications on the same page, through the icon below.

You will also find instructions and photos showing how I did it.

Life’s been very busy lately. I hoped that I would have some Transformers Valentines finished in time for Valentine’s Day, but I didn’t make it. I can safely say, though, that they’re done well in advance of Valentine’s Day 2009.

I’m slowly but surely still working on the next fan fic, “License To Drive.” It’s high on the list of things to finish.

February 10, 2008

After several weekends of work, an extensive new edit of my first fan fiction, The Spark Cell, is now complete. No parts were removed from the story, but since I’ve had more practice at writing since I first wrote it, I thought it was time for another edit.

Also, another piece of fan art is complete. Inspired by James Bond, here’s Jazz in the middle of a special operation back on Cybertron. The two Decepticon characters are from my imagination. I call the Seeker Freefall. The other Decepticon is named Tiger Tank after his color scheme.

I started another fan art picture so I thought I’d put up a thumbnail for it. Drawing a Cybertronian Mirage got me thinking that I’d like to do a picture of another character in his Cybertronian form. So, I chose one of my favorites - Jazz. I’ve drawn him in his tech spec role. You might just find a couple of Cybertronian Decepticons in this picture, too.

There’s a line drawing picture now to accompany the next fan fiction in progress.

It’s a new year and a good time for some changes to the site. I’ve made a number of cosmetic changes to the way that links appear. The biggest change, however, is to the layout of the Fan Fic and Bio sections. The list of stories is improved and there are now separate pages where you can go for more information on each story.

If you happen to see errors on the pages try clearing your computer’s cache and then re-accessing the site.
